Do you see this story following Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's Journey?

I see the Godfather following the Joseph Campbell’s concept of the Hero’s Journey. In the Hero’s Journey, they discuss about how heroes usually carry a special weapon which allow the person to carry out their job. In the godfather there is also a special weapon; in this case, it is a gun with special tape. The special weapon allowed Michael to kill Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey because they were trying to kill Don Corleone. Therefore the Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's Journey is being followed by the Godfather.

  1. I totally agree with what you are saying-except that at this point in the movie, they had already tried to kill Don Corleone.
Other than that I totally agree.

  5. In the movie The Godfather, I see it following Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's Journey. This is because in Campbell's concept it is mentioned that there is one special weapon and in The Godfather there is also a special weapon-the gun with the tape. It is the weapon that Michael used in order to kill Sollozzo and McCluskey since it has a special tape making it untraceable. McCluskey and Sollozo were killed since they were trying to make attempts at Don Corleone's life. This is where I see a major connection between John Campbell's concept and The Godfater.

I see the Godfather following the Joseph Campbell’s concept of the Hero’s Journey because in the Hero’s Journey they talked about how there is one special weapon and in the godfather there is also a special weapon. This is the gun that Michael recieved: it had special tape, was extra noisy, and was untraceable, so that after Micheal dropped the gun, they had no way to find him--the special weapon that enabled Michael to kill Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey, because they were going to try to kill Don Corleone. The Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's Journey is being followed by the Godfather.

  10. I see the Godfather following the Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's Journey, because in the Hero's Journey, they talked about how there is one special weapon. The Godfather also has a special weapon;the gun that was wrapped in tape. The special weapon that led Michael to kill Sollazzo and Captain McCluskey, was used because they were going to (try to) kill Don Corleone. The Joseph Campbells concept of the Hero's Journey; is being closely followed by The Godfather

  12. The Godfather follows Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's journey in that the Hero's Journey discusses about one special/magical weapon: in the Godfather, this is the gun that Michael used to kill Virgil Sollozzo and Captain McCluskey. He did this because they had tried, multiple-times, to kill Don Vito Corleone. The Godfather follows Joseph Campbell's concept of the Hero's Journey.
